What is Cerakote?
Cerakote is a ceramic-based thin-film coating used to protect and color metal and other hard surfaces. At Amendment Works we apply it with full surface prep and oven curing so the finish bonds properly and lasts under real use.
How much does Cerakote cost?
Pricing depends on the item and scope. As a starting point: pistol slides are often around $85, complete pistols typically $150–225, and complete rifles typically $250–400. Multi-color, patterns, and complex parts are quoted individually — contact us for an accurate price.
How long does Cerakote take?
Typical turnaround is about 1–2 weeks from drop-off, depending on queue and project complexity. We’ll give you a clearer timeline when we confirm your order.
Is it legal to ship my firearm for Cerakote?
Many customers bring firearms in person to our shop inside Triangle Shooting Academy. Shipping firearms is regulated; if you need to ship, contact us first so we can discuss FFL requirements and the correct process for your situation.
Does Cerakote affect tolerances?
When applied correctly, Cerakote is a thin film that protects parts without adding bulk that usually causes fit issues. We prep and coat with tolerances in mind, especially on slides, barrels, and mating surfaces.
How durable is Cerakote?
Cerakote is known for strong abrasion, chemical, and corrosion resistance when prepped and oven-cured correctly. It’s built for hard use on firearms, vehicles, and tools — not a decorative spray-on paint job.
